  WORKS IN SERIES

As part of a project in Parks and Gardens I was invited by the Ikon Gallery to take part in an exhbition to take place in a Park. I visited the Park and was shown what palces were available the lovely park had an interesting location with a stream running through it at one end and bordered by a bridge at one end were the original JCB factory was sited and had also the local Sports Centre . It was a fascinating intersection.

I was drawn to the stream and it was here that I would site ………. . It seemed apposite that I would use letters taken from ancient scripts and the letters were chosen for their approximation, closeness nearness to the physical object they sought to describe. These letters were then fabricated in a blue industrial fabric which was characterised by its lightness and density which gave it a suitability to the flow of the work. Being light and waterproof they would be able to float and meander they way through the stream. Well that was the hope unfortunately the work did come in for a fair bit of vandalism and though I had anticipated some waste and loss in the work there was not enough letters fabricated and so the life duration of the work was cut short.
