This is a composition of spring and summer flowers, which is set against a sky blue background and on a marble plinth. Whilst reminiscent of the great tradition of Flemish and European Flower Paintings it is uniquely both of its time and rooted in the eastern tradition of art.
A beautiful and wonderful painting in being rich colour and form. It is both rhythmic fluent in the handling of oil paint, line and colour. Sher has imparted the subject which is flowers and yet so much more giving the tradition of still life both wit and vibrancy. |
